Concern Expressed About A Potential Reduction Of The South Doc Service In The Fermoy-Mitchelstown Area
It’s emerged that a potential reduction in out of service GP hours could be on the cards
Some GPs are perceived to be at an increased medical risk.
The Fermoy-Mitchelstown area has already seen a reduction in out of hours services and the Health Minister and the HSE have now been called on to seek assurances that out of hours services will not be reduced in any way.
Speaking to RedFM News Cork TD Sean Sherlock says if there are a shortage of GPs for out of hours services the issue will have to be addressed as the service needs to be provided:
‘If it is the case that the GPS themselves to SouthDoc are putting in place, restrictions on certain categories of GPs, then there has to be a backfilling of those posts.’
