Cork Airport Has Plans To Reconstruct The Main Runway In The Next Three Years
The news comes as management say the €10 million fund announced in the Budget will go some of the way towards shielding it from the impact of Covid-19 on international travel.
The government announced a €21 million fund for the country’s airports yesterday during the budget, with Cork and Shannon to share a separate €10 million fund.
Passenger traffic at Cork Airport has fallen by 91% since the start of the outbreak resulting in a predicted loss of over €20 million.
Once the country’s fast growing airport, just 600,000 passengers will travel through the terminal this year compared to an estimate of over 2.6 million before the pandemic.
