Speaking to RedFM News, Detective Inspector Danny Coholan from Anglesea Street says the establishment of specialist teams has proven very effective at tackling the sale and supply of drugs in Cork:
“I suppose we’re attributing some of our success there to Operation Tara, in April of this year. And in Cork City this involved a renewed emphasis in drug investigations. This involved the setting up of district drugs units at Anglesea Street, Togher, Gurranabraher and Mayfield.
It also involved the increased resourcing of personnel in the divisional drugs unit at Angles street and the establishment of a city centre policing unit which especially targets street level drug dealing.”
